Totally Locally Leek

‘Love Sundays, Love Leek,’ this others day, the small market town of Leek showed their communal love for their mothers, as Totally Locally market stalls filled Derby street with over 50 stalls filled with home-made artisan products plus a variety of arts, crafts and food, what a perfect way to spoil your mother.

‘Drink Tea. Eat Cake and meet new people.’

The Sunday supplement, part of Totally Locally gives the community chance to come together in growing the community. The traders that gather in the market square and the main shopping street are creative spirits which show the true meaning of people power.

Totally locally is a social enterprise, basically a big idea put together by a small group of people and its all about thinking big and having a strong passion in what they do. There simple mission is to help the local community and evidentially leading to more jobs and nicer facilities for the community and a better future for the town.

The team at Totally Locally Leek have done the maths and if every adult simply paid £5 per week in one of the local shops instead of spending it online or in a chain supermarket, it would lead to and extra £4.1 million going into the local economy per year. From them being clever and working as a community they aim to fight capitalism.

The team of individuals involved with totally locally do not get any capital from helping the local businesses, its just the passion they have, as they see it, ‘it’s just the right thing to do.’ These people are more than traders they pull the community together, with live music and chatter from the community lingering within the air, amongst the smell of the street food. It is very clear that yet again this has been a success within the community, with motherly love filling the atmosphere this is the perfect day out.
